PayPal’s payment infrastructure team is looking for a seasoned technologist with computer science training, successful people/project management experiences as well as technical expertise to lead a highly skilled quality team in a fast moving, highly demanding but rewarding environment.  An ideal candidate for this role would be someone who has deep root in various technologies like database, test automation for APIs and services, data-driven test frameworks, programming languages (C++/Java), system architecture, UNIX/Linux environments as well as web technologies. This person needs to be able to handle the complexity of the daily activities and think both tactically and strategically to deliver high quality products to meet our business needs.

In order to meet our aggressive growth plan, we need a thought leader to partner with cross-functional teams and peer quality teams to continue innovating and finding creative ways to improve efficiency and gain synergy across all payment areas. Detailed analysis to understand the root cause of issues/gaps, effective communication to articulate new ideas/solutions and strong advocate for quality are required to be successful for this role.

·The manager will be located in Scottsdale, AZ., with people management responsibilities for local employees.

·Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams located in San Jose and Chennai.

·Proven leadership track records to lead initiatives and changes in a large organization.

·Manage testing efforts of large scale initiatives implemented by Payment Infrastructure teams that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability and reliability

·Provide technical, tactical and strategic direction to the Quality team to test the changes planned in each release

·Plan the test strategy and white box automation efforts for each release ensuring high automation and thorough coverage

·Drive schedules and ensuring dependencies are identified and actively managed.

·Track test coverage and defect metrics on a regular basis to ensure project is tracking well to timelines

·Communicate overall testing status and issues on a regular basis

·Mentor and develop team members

·10+ years of industry experience in testing and deploying highly available applications

·5+ years hands on technical management

·Strong familiarity with web technologies, financial applications, and business complexities

·Ability to design and review test plans for complex applications

·Strong background in data-driven, white box test automation & system-level testing

·Ability to lead a highly skilled white box QA team from test planning through production launch

Basic Qualifications

·Excellent written and verbal communication skills required

·Experience with programming in Java and/or C++ preferred

·Previous employment in a fast pace environment is preferable

·Experience in some aspect of financial services is desirable

·Education BSCS or BSEE or Other Related 4yr Technical Degree
