Primary Job Responsibilities

North America’s merchant services team supports millions of merchants generating over $2,000,000,000 in PayPal revenue with strong YOY growth.

The PayPal NA Merchant Product team represents PayPal’s largest region from a business and customer perspective to other product and development groups within PayPal. Further the group assures we deliver the best products and services to our customers.
 
The aspiration of PayPal Merchant Services is to win in NA through solutions that drive incremental sales for merchants and delight our customer’s customers.  Our services compete in a dynamic market and require astute and outward looking product and marketing leaders to take the business to the next level.

The role of the Large Merchant (LM) Market Segment Leader will be to own the strategy and P&L for the top 500 internet merchants and other top brand merchants in NA.

This person will be expected to be a segment expert and influential leader within PayPal, working with Product, Development, Channel, Sales and Marketing teams, to address market segment needs and achieve the financial and operational targets for the NA region through a combination of:

• Developing a thorough understanding of the market including problem/opportunity identification, market definition, win/loss analysis and buyer/user personas
• Communicating market needs to and driving product priorities via Global Product Line Teams (GPLTs), PayPal Risk, Platform Team, and Global Credit Organizations
• Optimizing the NA product portfolio, pricing and distribution strategy.
• Defining and articulating product positioning
• Strategizing growth in new customer acquisition across all channels (website, channel, and telesales)
• Working with the NA merchant marketing, sales, channel and account management teams on go-to-market planning for new products or product changes
• Working with business development and channel teams to identify and win partnership opportunities and strategic alliances
• Developing business cases for product additions or enhancements
• Acting as a consolidated and data driven “voice of the customer”
• Co-ordinating where required with EU and APAC regions to ensure best practices are shared globally

Job Requirements

• Extensive industry experience related to financial services, ecommerce.
• 10+ yrs experience in a product management, product marketing or product strategy role
• 5+ yrs relevant real-world experience serving or working for an LM.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills; comfortable making c-level or public presentations
• Ability to get things done with matrix teams and managing by influence
• Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Proven leadership skills
• Strong analytical skills – able to understand and interpret data, make decisions based on data and solid business case rationale
• Talent to draw hypothesis and lead efforts to prove them through testing and/or research

Education

Bachelor’s degree required, Masters Degree or Equivalent preferred
