The Product Management team is responsible for leading company activities to achieve strategic objectives for Convio’s social media and mobile products by performing market and customer research; securing executive business case approval for product strategy, plans and investments; defining market and product requirements; forecasting and analyzing product performance; and working closely with Development, Marketing, Sales and Services teams to ensure “whole product” success in the marketplace.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Identify market opportunities, build the business case, and secure approval and funding to bring products to market.
* Perform market research, competitive analysis and product concept testing to validate and refine decisions.
* Drive go-to-market planning including 4Ps, MRDs, PRDs, product roadmaps, and release plans for new and existing products.
* Drive executive team approval of your proposals and plans.
* Work closely with development teams to manage the full lifecycle of the product, from initiation to delivery to sustaining to retirement.
* Ensure operational alignment across Marketing, Sales and Service efforts to ensure “whole product” success in the marketplace.
* Serve as a public-facing expert for assigned product family.
* Analyze and report success, identify issues and opportunities, and drive continuous improvement for existing offerings.
General Qualifications:
* 3+ years experience in software/SaaS product management
* Domain experience in social media and/or mobile marketing and/or products
* Expertise in Pragmatic Marketing software product management and Agile development methodologies.
* Ability to effectively drive results across matrixed teams.
* Can-do attitude with a demonstrated ability to get things done under minimal supervision.
* Excellent time management, communications, decision-making, presentation, and organizational skills.
* Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a relevant business discipline preferred.

The right candidate is an experienced marketing professional who has a proven track record in accelerating the market adoption of products and solutions under his/her management, exponentially boosting demand creation and empowering a sales team to be wildly successful in beating the competition.
For assigned products or markets, the manager will:

  • Identify key leverage points to drive higher sales win rates, product penetration and revenue, including: segmentation, awareness, and competitive product differentiators
  • Establish close, effective working relationships with Product Management to ensure that product strategy is implemented in sales and marketing programs, and to guide roadmap development
  • Create effective, compelling product or market segment positioning, messaging, and thought leadership that is understood and adopted by key stakeholders (including sales, marketing programs, corporate communications and partners)
  • Ensure that the sales organization:
    • knows the target prospect for the product
    • can articulate the problems that the product solves for the prospect
    • understands the relevance of those problems for the prospect
    • is motivated and excited to sell the product
  • Manage a high volume of product-related, market-facing sales materials and collaborate with multiple departments to ensure effective and timely delivery of relevant collateral, training to key audiences, specifically our salesforce, and serve as a market thought leader and speaker at industry events and prospect/client meetings.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of experience in a software or Internet services company, ideally SaaS business model, in product marketing, product management or a similar role of which at least 3 years of software product or solutions marketing experience
  • Self starter, creative thinker, excellent listener and communicator
  • Strong affinity for sales team success, prior strategic accounts support (top accounts)
  • Excellent speaking and presentation skills; strong analytical skills
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills with a high level of attention to detail. Able to write quickly and concisely for non-technical audiences, specifically for sales professionals and clients. Writing samples will be required.
  • Proven record of thriving in fast-paced environment
  • Expert-level proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • BS/BA or equivalent experience; MBA preferred


  • Previous sales experience a strong plus
  • Experienced with or similar CRM, web conferencing tools, MS Project
  • Experience working for or strong volunteering with nonprofit organization, Board experience
  • Prior experience working with Blackbaud, Kintera, Sage or other software providers to nonprofits; prior experience with a Software-as-a-Service provider

Extra credit

  • Proficient in editing HTML, graphic design and application knowledge a plus
